Job Description

The Hostess serves as the first point of contact for guests at KUL Restaurant, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. This role focuses on welcoming guests with high energy, managing the reservation and seating flow efficiently, and collaborating closely with the service team to maintain KUL Restaurant's hospitality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• 1. Guest Relations & ReceptionWarm Welcome:
• Greet guests enthusiastically upon arrival, open doors, and manage the front lobby area to create an inviting atmosphere.Accurate Estimates: Provide walk-in guests with realistic wait times during peak hours and manage the waiting list professionally.Lasting Impression: Bid guests a warm farewell as they leave, gather quick feedback on their dining experience, and invite them to return.
• 2. Table & Seating ManagementStrategic Seating:
• Guide guests to their tables, present menus, highlight daily specials, and introduce their dedicated server.Floor Control: Manage table rotation smoothly using a floor plan map to ensure waitstaff sections are balanced and not overwhelmed.Turnover Coordination: Monitor table statuses (occupied, dirty, clean) and communicate quickly with bussers to speed up table resets.
• 3. Reservations & TechnologyBooking Operations:
• Manage phone inquiries, take accurate messages, and process online reservations through the restaurant's booking system.Special Requests: Document and communicate guest preferences, dietary restrictions, allergies, or special occasions (like birthdays or anniversaries) to the service and kitchen teams.
• 4. Front-of-House MaintenanceSanitation & Order:
• Keep the host stand, entrance floor, menus, and wine lists clean, sanitized, and neatly organized throughout the shift.Complaint Resolution: Address initial guest complaints or delays with a calm, polite attitude and escalate issues to the Restaurant Manager when necessary.

Requirements

• Communication: Exceptional verbal communication, a friendly tone, and professional phone etiquette.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve seating conflicts or long wait-time complaints with a calm, polite, and positive attitude.
• Multitasking: Strong organizational skills to manage phone lines, walk-in crowds, and server rotation simultaneously under high pressure.
• Reservation Systems: Hands-on experience using digital restaurant platforms (like OpenTable, Resy, or SevenRooms).
• POS Systems: Basic familiarity with Point of Sale terminals (like Toast, Clover, or Micros) to check table statuses.
