Job Description

The Commis I is an entry-level position in the kitchen brigade, responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of food under the guidance of senior chefs. This role is ideal for individuals looking to build their culinary skills and advance in the kitchen hierarchy.

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of food items according to standard recipes and quality standards.

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use.

  • Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, and fryers to prepare foods.

  • Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and food garnish.

  • Set up and break down workstations before and after service.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas.

  • Monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared during service.

  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

  • Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.

  • Assist in mentoring and guiding Commis II and other junior kitchen staff.
