Job Description

The Kitchen Utility Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, including all utensils, equipment, and surfaces. This role ensures that all kitchen areas comply with health and safety regulations, providing a safe and hygienic environment for food preparation and service.

Cleaning and Sanitization:

• Wash and sanitize all kitchen utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and equipment using dishwashers or by hand, as appropriate.
• Ensure all cleaned items are properly stored in designated areas.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, including countertops, stovetops, ovens, grills, and sinks.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Waste Management:

• Empty and clean trash receptacles, ensuring proper disposal of waste and recyclables.
• Transport garbage to designated disposal areas promptly.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Monitor and maintain dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Assist with basic maintenance tasks, such as changing filters or refilling cleaning agents.

Inventory and Supplies:

• Monitor levels of cleaning supplies and inform management when reordering is necessary.
• Ensure all cleaning agents are used and stored safely, adhering to safety data sheet (SDS) guidelines.

Compliance and Safety:

• Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in regular training sessions on hygiene and safety standards.

Support to Kitchen Staff:

• Assist with unloading and storing deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation.
• Provide support in food preparation tasks as directed by kitchen supervisors.
