Job Description
The Rice Maker is responsible for cooking rice to perfection in a commercial kitchen setting. This role involves preparing various types of rice dishes, ensuring the proper cooking method and consistency for each dish, while adhering to food safety standards. The Rice Maker plays a vital role in maintaining the quality and consistency of rice dishes served to customers.
- Cook and prepare different types of rice (white, brown, basmati, jasmine, etc.) using traditional and modern cooking methods (e.g., rice cookers, pots).
- Ensure rice is cooked to the correct texture, flavor, and temperature, meeting the quality standards for each dish.
- Follow specific recipes and instructions for preparing rice dishes, including fried rice, pilaf, and other specialty rice-based recipes.
- Monitor rice during cooking to ensure it is neither undercooked nor overcooked, making adjustments to cooking times or heat levels as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness in the rice preparation area, ensuring all utensils, cooking equipment, and surfaces are sanitized and organized.
- Assist with ingredient preparation, including washing, soaking, or seasoning rice as required for specific dishes.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure rice dishes are ready in a timely manner for serving.
- Follow food safety protocols for handling, cooking, and storing rice and other ingredients.
